Pleas dont let you self to be confused with all that Mines and stratas people talk about. People let them self to believe that some mines is better then others but they not . There are many many different stones from each mine and some are good and some are not. I have seen Ohiras that was harder and finer then Nakayamas and Ozukos. I just look for stone and how it works if its Ohira, Nakayma, Narutaki or Ozuko it makes no difference there are a lot of variations in all mines.
There are though some mines that produce softer stone then others but hard enough for all of os to use on razors and knives.
Just a bit info because i get many emails from people that request special Mine but it is wrong unless you are collector and just want to own one from that mine :)
I totally agree with you on this, Max. I have found some real gems that I do not really know which mine came from, and other rocks from famous mines that have disappointed me. It is hard to find good stones without trying them first, but the different pictures you take with and without water and slurry helps a lot. Thanks.
